The Alpine Library, currently housed in a 3,100-square-foot leased facility, has been a vital gathering spot for the community since its establishment in 1913. Construction for the new, approximately 12,700 square foot library began in April 2015, with expected opening in spring 2016. It will offer a host of services that empower and educate the community including free access to a network of 42 million books, DVD movies, and music CDs.

Imperial Beach

The Board of Supervisors authorized the construction of a new library for the Imperial Beach community in July 2014. The new library will feature special spaces for kids and teens, lounge seating, quiet study rooms, a community room, bookstore, additional public Internet computers, and more. Groundbreaking is planned for December 2015 and the library is expected to be completed in fall 2016.
