Fallbrook Library hosts Guatemalan Consulate

The Fallbrook Library hosted the Guatemalan Consulate for a weekend event to bring the services of the consulate, located in San Bernardino, to the Fallbrook community. Over the weekend 350 people received services such as renewing their passports/green cards, updating their information, and forms and information on immigration issues. Sunday was the biggest day, with attendees lining up as early as 4 a.m. The line waiting for the Consulate stretched across the parking lot. The event was scheduled to end at 2 p.m. that day but library and consulate staff stayed until 7 p.m. that night to serve those waiting. Library staff used the time to promote library programs and to issue library cards to the attendees. This is going to be an annual event.
