Imperial Beach Library hosts Día de los Muertos event

Día de los Muertos is the Imperial Beach Library's Signature Event. It is a free family-oriented program for the entire community. It is designed to educate the community on this holiday's roots, history, culture, and family tradition. The decorations consisted of bright paper flowers, skeleton balloons, and pictures of the Calavera Catrina (Lady of the Dead). Additionally, a traditional altar was exhibited in memory of lost loved ones. A mariachi band was present, and engaged the community with historical facts and different kinds of music.

In addition to a great year of events, the Board of Supervisors authorized the construction of a new library for the Imperial Beach community in July 2014. It will offer a host of services including free access to 42 million books, DVD movies, and music CDs.
