Poway Library provides classical music concert for kids

In March of 2015, the Poway Library hosted the San Diego Symphony's children's outreach program with two consecutive concerts. Eight classes of kindergarteners and first graders from Valley Elementary School attended, as did regular storytime patrons and library users. For most of the children, this classical music concert was their first - and they were mesmerized with delight. The Symphony's program included brief discussions about the music and audience interaction. Many of the children spontaneously stood up and started "conducting" following the conductor's example. There were also books, DVDs, and CDs available for check out. The Kinder Koncert program allowed students from TK to Kinder the opportunity to be introduced to classical music. Students were able to interact with the wonderful conductor, and enjoy a concert that they may not have experienced if the library did not provide it.
