SDCL has diligently served the community of San Diego County since opening its doors in 1913. With 33 branches and 2 bookmobiles, SDCL serves over one million residents across a 4,000 square mile county. SDCL's mission is to inform, educate, inspire, and entertain. Recently conferred the national 2012 Library of the Year award by Library Journal and Gale (part of Cengage Learning), SDCL provides sanctuaries for all ages and has its finger on the pulse of the community.
While much has changed over the past 100 years, SDCL's devotion to serving the community and promoting free, open access to information and services has not. Please join us as we celebrate 100 Years of Stories with fun events taking place at all locations, a countywide art contest, and by sharing your tale of how the library has impacted your life.
