MEET THE DIRECTOR AT SPRING VALLEY LIBRARY'S CUSTOMER APPRECIATION OPEN HOUSE
August 8, 2012
The Spring Valley Library, 836 Kempton St, is hosting a Customer Appreciation Open House that includes activities for all ages. The event includes an opportunity to meet José Aponte, Director of the San Diego County Library, which was recently named the winner of the national 2012 Library of the Year award. The event is taking place on Thursday, August 30 from 2-4 p.m. and will include music, refreshments, remarks by District 2 Supervisor Dianne Jacob, a craft for kids, and tours of the recently remodeled library.
"The Customer Appreciation Open House is San Diego County Library's way of saying thank you to the people that give us our purpose," said Aponte. "The public is the driving force behind everything we do, and one of the best parts of my job is getting out and thanking the community for making our libraries great."
The Customer Appreciation Open House includes a performance by Ricky Ruis, who has been playing the guitar since he was 14 and delivers ballads with depth and touch. The library's remodel was recently completed, and included the addition of a computer lab, study room, and laptop bar, along with new carpet and other furniture.
