County Library Unveils 24/7 Library To Go in Chula Vista

November 18, 2017

A new self-service kiosk will bring popular books, movies, and more to people visiting the South Region Live Well Center at Chula Vista.

San Diego County Library’s new 24/7 Library To Go provides access to hundreds of library materials in a convenient vending machine format. Library cardholders can pick up new books or movies any time, day or night.

The kiosk is a partnership between the County Human Health and Human Services Agency and the County Library system to promote early childhood literacy and healthy living for the families that visit the resource center. The 24/7 Library To Go will feature popular materials with emphasis on parenting, healthy lifestyle, youth and teen books, and DVDs.

"Our County libraries inform, educate, inspire and entertain and this new kiosk will give residents 24/7 access to books and videos," said County Supervisor Greg Cox, who represents Chula Vista and South County. "This kiosk will be especially important to hard working families in South County who may not have time in their busy schedules to visit branch libraries. Now they can visit the kiosk any time after work or on the weekend. It's part of our ongoing effort to invest in library services and remove barriers to information and knowledge."

A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 7 at 10 a.m. and will feature remarks by Supervisor Cox, Library Director Migell Acosta, and Barbara Jiménez Director for Central and South Regions, Health and Human Services Agency along with live entertainment and refreshments. The 24/7 Library To Go is located at 690 Oxford Street in Chula Vista.

The 24/7 Library To Go also provides access to the library's catalog and databases. Customers can log in to their accounts to view items, and reserve materials to be picked up at a local County Library branch or bookmobile. Free parking is available. For more information on the 24/7 Library To Go, visit www.sdcl.org.
