October 11 marks National Coming Out Day – a day to celebrate members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their personal journey.
National Coming Out Day was first celebrated in the United States in 1988 with the idea that coming out to friends, family, and colleagues would represent the most basic form of activism for any lesbian or gay person.
The celebration continues today as a celebration of coming out and to raise awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community and the civil rights movement.
Celebrate this special day with us by checking out one of our volumes written by, for and about members the LGBTQIA+ community.
Also, be sure to check out these LGBTQIA+ resources at SDCL.
