Community Rooms

In keeping with its role as a community center and gathering place, the County Library makes its Community Rooms available to community organizations for meetings, workshops, and events when not in use by the library.  Room capacity and equipment varies by location; please see individual site pages for details. Please note that not all our library branches have community rooms.

A San Diego County Library card is required to book a community room. Commercial and for-profit agencies that have not established a partnership with the Library are ineligible for meeting room reservations.

If you do not have a library card, you can apply for one in-person at your local branch.


The following guidelines apply to all community rooms:

  • Events must be free and open to the public; government agencies may be exempt with application approval. The room is not available for private events.
  • No sales are permitted, except for authors and performers selling books or media at a library program.
  • The library address may be included on publicity as the location, but the library is not to be represented on publicity as the co-sponsor of your event.
  • The distribution of food and drink at public events and meetings is regulated by the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality (DEHQ). More information about food permits can be found here.

Before submitting an application, see the links below for more information about each library branch’s community room and room availability. Please note that filling out the online application temporarily reserves the space until library staff review and approve the application. You will receive an email response to confirm your reservation.
