The El Cajon Library Zine Collection was created during a six-week workshop series that offered community members the opportunity to create their own story through a zine. Zines are self-published works about anything that have roots in counterculture, intellectual freedom, freedom of expression, activism, and humanities interests, while elevating diverse voices. Through our partnership with the California Humanities Library Innovation Lab grant, community members learned about zines and zine culture, created their own mini zines, and as a cohort developed and created a full-sized zine.
