eBooks & eAudiobooks

San Diego County Library has free eBooks and eAudiobooks, including a collection of Kids' eBooks, to read or listen to on your Nook, Kindle, tablet, mobile phone, and other compatible devices.

Digital books are automatically "returned" to the library - no late fees!

What are the borrowing, return, and renewal policies for digital books?

My library card was replaced, and now I can't access my OverDrive checkouts or holds.

If you were issued a new library card number and need to transfer your checkouts and holds to your new account, please contact technical support. Please include your new library card number, old library card number, and current email address.

Why do I have to place a request for a digital title?

Whenever possible, SDCL purchases eBooks and eAudiobooks from publishers that permit unlimited downloads (i.e. titles are always available for download). However, most publishers only sell their digital titles by the copy (the way physical books are sold). SDCL monitors the number of customer requests for digital titles so that additional copies of titles can be purchased as needed.
